Naruto & Sasuke: How to handle jealousy
So, we’ve all been jealous of somebody before.
Whether it was of the smartest kid in class, or even your own sibling, we’ve all wanted something that somebody else had.
Including God-kun, Naruto Uzumaki.
Now for those of you who don’t know, in the beginning of Naruto, Naruto hated Sasuke.
And the reason why is because in Naruto’s eyes, Sasuke had it all.
The skills, the looks, and the respect from others.
So because of that, Naruto became a hater and complained about everything Sasuke did.
But in reality, all Sasuke was depressed and wasn’t satisfied with himself at all, because he wanted to avenge his family by killing his older brother- Itachi.
So- Naruto’s jealous. So what?
I mean did it really change anything?
Well yeah, it did.
Because Naruto was so jealous of Sasuke, Naruto constantly compared himself to Sasuke and failed in a lot of things because of it. He never tried to change his style, and if anything without the help of the mentors and teachers around him, Naruto would’ve just ended up like Iruka… a loser. (Sorry to all of the Iruka fanboys out there).
So how can you avoid jealousy?
Well, at the end of the day, when we are all human and it’s normal to be jealous of others. However, it’s all about controlling your emotions so that your jealousy doesn’t distract you or handicap you in any way towards reaching your goal.
And in order to do that, you need to focus on what you’re doing right first.
For example, failing in math but you have A’s and B’s in everything else sounds a lot worse than…
Having all A’s and B’s, with an F in Math.
If you focus on what you are doing right, what you are doing wrong will only seem less minor.
So, if you focus on those small minor mistakes and slowly chip them away, you’ll eventually reach perfection towards whatever you do.
